About VirShark

A technology and research company, based in the United States.

We work at the intersection of software engineering, cloud and virtualized infrastructure, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and applied scientific research. Our aim is to deliver systems that are technically sound, secure by design and understandable to the teams who operate them, and to back our claims with evidence that others can examine.

Our mission

Speed and rigor are not a trade-off.

Organizations should not have to choose between speed and rigor. Good software can be delivered quickly when its requirements are clear, its architecture is deliberate and its operation has been considered from the start.

Good research can move from question to practice when its methods are documented and its results are open to scrutiny. VirShark exists to combine these two disciplines, so the systems we deliver are both practical today and dependable over the long term.

How we operate

Three commitments on every engagement.

We keep assumptions visible and revisit them as we learn more, so decisions can be explained to clients, auditors and colleagues alike. We favor documented tools and open standards, and avoid dependencies that would make a system harder to maintain.

Written scope

Every engagement starts with a written scope: who depends on the system, which failures would hurt them, and how we will know the work is finished.

Security by design

We model threats, limit access to what each role needs, protect data in transit and at rest, and plan recovery before anything goes live.

Handover you keep

Architecture, operating procedures and tests are delivered to you, so your team keeps full control of what was commissioned.

Where we work

Organizations with serious technical requirements.

We adapt our engagement to the size of the work, from a focused review of an existing system to the design and delivery of a new platform.

Modernizing infrastructure

Companies moving to cloud or virtualized platforms without losing control of cost or risk.

Sensitive information

Teams building products that handle sensitive data and need security designed in.

Academic partners

Research groups running demanding computational projects.

Public bodies

Public partners that need rigorous, auditable technical work.
